Boat lifted clear for bottom painting

Preparation · Antifouling · Underwater work

Bottom Painting

The existing paint, the condition beneath it and how you use the boat determine the work. Marine PRO plans the preparation, coating and relaunch together, with time to address other underwater needs while the boat is out.

A good bottom job starts before the first coat.

What we can help with

Know what your bottom job includes.

A maintenance repaint and a bottom that needs stripping or repairs are different jobs. The estimate should make that distinction clear.

Haulout & condition review

Arrival, haulout and washdown arrangements, followed by a review of the coating, growth and visible underwater condition.

Surface preparation

Masking, scraping, sanding and cleaning appropriate to the existing coating, with spot priming where included in the estimate.

Antifouling application

A compatible paint system and agreed coat schedule, selected around the boat’s use and applied to the prepared surface.

Related underwater work

Anodes, fittings, running gear and repair needs reviewed together. Replacement, specialty coatings, barrier work and blister repairs are estimated separately.

How we handle the work

Prepare properly. Plan the relaunch.

  1. Review the paint history

Tell us the last bottom-job date, previous products if known and the growth you’ve been seeing. This helps define the starting scope.

  2. Inspect after washing

Flaking, buildup, blisters or exposed material may call for more than ordinary preparation. We document those conditions and discuss the repair before proceeding.

  3. Complete the agreed system

Preparation, primer and antifouling follow the selected product requirements. Related fittings and repairs are handled in the appropriate order.

  4. Inspect and return to the water

We review the finished work and coordinate launch around coating requirements and the other approved jobs. You receive a record of the work completed.

Planning your service

Compare the complete scope, not just a price per foot.

The estimate identifies preparation, materials and application, along with haul, launch, storage and other marina charges. Confirm which items are included before comparing quotes.

Full stripping, barrier coating, blister repair and running-gear coatings are separate decisions. If the condition changes the work required, we explain the options and obtain approval.

Use the haulout well

Tell us about propellers, through-hulls, transducers or other equipment needing attention before the coating work begins.
